At McCain, we realise we can’t grow sustainable potatoes in an unsustainable climate.
It’s why we’ve committed to our four-part Sustainability Strategy. By growing sustainable farming practices and reducing our environmental footprint, we can continue celebrating real connections through delicious, planet-friendly food long into the future.
Just as high-quality produce starts with our growers, so too do our sustainable practices.
McCain provides various regenerative agriculture training initiatives to our growers across ANZ, and we’ve already achieved an 8% reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne from potato farming, storage, and freight.
As a founding signatory of the Australian Food Pact, McCain works hard to ensure we use precious natural resources responsibly.
Our Ballarat plant already has the largest behind-the-meter solar farm in Australia, and our cogeneration systems reduce Co2 emissions by 15.1k tonnes and save 23k tonnes of waste from landfill a year.
Our produce can’t just look amazing; we want customers to know ‘McCain’ means natural, nutritional and full of real, incredible flavour.
By introducing nutrition and clean ingredient policies, we’re ensuring our products meet the ever-growing health needs of consumers, as well as environmental and animal welfare concerns. We’re also working on reducing the sodium in a number of products without compromising on taste, and looking for new ways to expand our healthier veg-forward offerings too.
Without the communities we depend on, McCain wouldn’t be where we are today. It’s why we’re just as committed to helping locals now and into the future.
We’ve donated hundreds of thousands of meals to food relief organisations across ANZ, as well as supported employee volunteering through our ‘Chips In’ program.
